Focusing on podcasts in addition to listening to music, Spotify now plans to enrich its user experience by focusing on audiobooks. Spotify has announced a new business model in which Premium subscribers will have access to a total of 150,000 audiobook libraries at no additional cost. The new feature will be active in the UK and Australia first, and will enter the US market later.
Spotify CEO Daniel Ek noted that they see great potential in the audiobook market and believe that the consumption of audio content will increase. Having previously acquired audiobook platform Findaway, Spotify is determined to expand its audiobook service with this infrastructure.
