Tesla has officially discontinued its Model S sedan and Model X crossover. The company announced that the last cars are being built at its Fremont plant.
The Model S was launched in 2012. At the time, the electric car offered a range of 265 miles on a single charge, which was a record for the time. Later, high-performance versions and Tesla's Supercharger network further increased the brand's popularity. The 2026 version already had a range of 410 miles.
The Model X, introduced in 2015, attracted attention with its "Falcon Wing" doors and a 7-seat cabin. The Model X set new standards in the electric SUV segment with both practicality and high performance.
Tesla has constantly updated these models over the years. The Plaid versions had more than 1,000 horsepower and were able to complete the 0-100 km/h acceleration in about 2 seconds.
The company says the production lines will now be used to assemble Optimus robots. Tesla has sold a total of about 750,000 Model S and Model X vehicles so far.
