The Central Bank of Azerbaijan publishes digital fraud statistics across Banks

The Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) has released digital fraud statistics covering the banking sector as part of its comprehensive efforts to strengthen information security and cybersecurity in the financial market.

The statistical report, which covers the first half of this year, presents data on fraudulent transactions that occurred across all banks operating in the country. The data is compiled based on reports submitted by banks to the CBA. These reports include key and subtypes of fraud, types of transactions, the amount of damage, and other analytical indicators.

The report, developed in line with international practices, features periodic measurements based on specific metrics established for monitoring fraudulent activities in digital payments. It provides comparative indicators of domestic and cross-border fraud cases over different periods, analyzing the dynamics and structural changes in such transactions.

On May 16, 2025, under the initiative of the CBA, a working group was established as part of the efforts to combat fraud in digital payments. The group includes representatives from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the banking sector. Its activities focus on strengthening information and cybersecurity within the digital financial ecosystem, improving preventive measures, and ensuring coordinated action based on international best practices.
