The startup that ceased operations in Azerbaijan has raised $45 million in investment

Türkiye’s renewed electronics startup EasyCep has raised $45 million in its latest investment round. Supported by venture capital firms such as Oleka Capital, RePie Portföy, and Ziraat Portföy, this new funding will further accelerate the company’s rapid growth. Notably, EasyCep increased its revenues 15-fold between 2021 and 2024, after previously securing $11 million in 2022 and an additional investment from Fibabanka in 2023.

EasyCep’s core business model goes beyond simply buying and selling second-hand devices. The company refurbishes devices to a certified technical standard and offers them with 12-month official warranty and installment payment options. Currently, the startup operates across more than 300 physical locations in Turkey and aims to significantly expand its product range with the new funding. Beyond smartphones, EasyCep plans to scale offerings in tablets, computers, gaming consoles, and smart home devices.

The company is also active in Qatar, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia, and recently entered a strategic partnership with Xiaomi. According to CEO Mehmet Akif Özdemir, the next stage focuses on expanding the EasyCep Express network, improving customer satisfaction, and reducing informal device sales by establishing a standardized, eco-friendly refurbished electronics ecosystem. This model both increases technology accessibility and contributes to reducing electronic waste.

An important point is EasyCep’s brief entry into — and subsequent exit from — the Azerbaijani market. Although the startup launched operations locally, challenges such as high logistics costs, certification requirements, and lower-than-expected stable demand for refurbished devices led the company to optimize operations and withdraw. Easycep Azerbaijan LLC, registered in 2023 with a charter capital of 703,343 AZN, officially announced the cessation of its activities in November of this year.
