Uber launches flying taxi service in Dubai

Uber has announced the launch of its electric air taxi service in Dubai. The company is partnering with US electric air transport manufacturer Joby Aviation on the project. The service is scheduled to launch in 2026.

According to the company, passengers will be able to book a ride on a Joby Aviation-made aircraft through the Uber app. The price will also include a regular taxi ride to the takeoff point and a transfer from the landing point to the final destination.

The exact launch date, flight prices and routes for the service have not yet been announced.

The electric aircraft, designed for four passengers, will be operated by certified pilots. The aircraft use propellers for vertical takeoff, can reach a maximum speed of 321 km/h and can travel up to 160 km on a single charge.

In addition, Joby Aviation has entered the final stage of certification to obtain permission for commercial flights in the United States. In the future, the partners plan to expand the air taxi service to other countries, including Japan and the UK market.

In the summer of 2025, the company successfully completed test flights with a pilot in Dubai. The service is planned to be introduced at Dubai International Airport (DXB), Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Marina and Dubai Downtown.
