Today, the Artificial Intelligence Academy (AI Academy) opened in Baku.
The Ministry of Digital Development and Transport announced the news.
The opening ceremony was attended by Rashad Nabiyev, Minister of Digital Development and Transport, and Emin Amrullayev, Minister of Science and Education.
At the event, participants learned about the academy’s plans, study programs, and goals for developing the AI ecosystem in Azerbaijan. They also visited the classrooms, met students, and discussed their expectations and future plans.
The AI Academy will operate with support from AZCON Holding. It was created based on the Azerbaijan Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2025-2028.
The main goal of the academy is to train specialists in AI and support digital transformation in the country. In the future, it aims to make Azerbaijan a leading center in the region for AI education and innovative projects.
The study programs follow international standards and are based on experiences from leading universities worldwide. The academic team includes experts with strong experience in AI and modern technologies.
The academy will also collaborate with top global universities, including MIT, University of California, Carnegie Mellon, Harvard, and Stanford. Professors from these universities will give guest lectures at the academy.
The academy focuses on research and innovative projects. Students and specialists will have opportunities to work on startup ideas, participate in practical projects, and learn from international experience.
At the event, a large AI language model prototype was presented. It was trained on 10 billion tokens and 1.2 million synthetic data points. The project shows Azerbaijan’s AI potential and is an important step in developing the national innovation ecosystem.
According to Tuncay Bagirov, director of the National AI Center:
"The creation of the AI Academy is strategically important for training a new generation of specialists, strengthening the digital economy, and improving Azerbaijan’s position on the global AI map."
