Eternos startup secures $10 million investment and rebrands as Uare.ai to build personal AI assistants

Previously focused on preserving people’s voices and life stories digitally after death, the Eternos startup has sharply shifted its direction. The startup will now operate under the name Uare.ai, raising $10.3 million in initial funding to transition from a “digital legacy” service to creating personal AI assistants.

The startup’s founder, Robert LoCascio, who also founded LivePerson in 1997 — a pioneer in web chat technology — originally launched Eternos to help individuals preserve their life stories and identities after passing away. However, LoCascio discovered that most of the interest came not from people facing mortality, but from those eager to use the technology in their professional and personal lives today.

As a result, the startup rebranded to Uare.ai and raised $10.3 million from investors including Mayfield and Boldstart Ventures. Its new goal is to create “digital twins” for creative professionals and experts (such as accountants) based on their personal knowledge, experience, and voice. These AI assistants will be able to generate new content, respond to client inquiries, and even manage projects.

Uare.ai stands out through its use of a technology called the Human Life Model (HLM), meaning the AI relies solely on a person’s own data — such as life stories, professional insights, and audio or video recordings — rather than the broader internet. LoCascio emphasizes that if the AI doesn’t know an answer, it won’t invent one; it will simply reply, “I don’t know.”

The startup plans to generate revenue through subscriptions and revenue sharing, taking a percentage of income earned through users’ own digital twins.
