Garmin has launched the new inReach Mini 3 Plus satellite communicator, designed for communication in areas without mobile coverage. Featuring a modern design, the device has been significantly upgraded compared to its previous version. The new model comes with a color touchscreen and allows users to send voice messages of up to 30 seconds and text messages of up to 1,600 characters. The most notable innovation is its ability to send and receive photos via satellite when connected to a smartphone.
Although the device does not have its own camera, it can transmit images from a phone through the Garmin Messenger app. This feature is especially valuable for locating travelers lost in the wilderness or sending visual reports from expeditions. The device also offers impressive battery life: it can operate up to 350 hours in coordinate tracking mode, but active messaging and voice communication reduces this time to 95 minutes.
Priced $100 higher than its predecessor, the inReach Mini 3 Plus is available for $500. Using satellite communication requires a dedicated subscription, ranging from $8 to $50 per month.
