In Astana, Kazakhstan, Pavel Durov, the founder of the messaging platform Telegram, announced the launch of the company’s first Artificial Intelligence (AI) Laboratory.
Speaking at the plenary session of the Digital Bridge forum, Mr. Durov expressed his pride that the laboratory was opened in Alem AI, the international artificial intelligence center located in Astana. He noted that this new initiative will be overseen by Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development.
The laboratory’s first and most significant project will be a collaboration between the Telegram platform and Kazakhstan’s supercomputer cluster.
Durov added that in recent months, Telegram has been working on a new innovation at the intersection of AI and blockchain technologies. According to him, this breakthrough will allow over one billion people to access AI-powered functions. These AI features will be generated by a privately operated, decentralized computer system.
This initiative aims to position Kazakhstan as a key hub for technology and artificial intelligence in the Central Asian region.
